Meet the Owner

Lynette Johnson

Lynette Johnson is an eastern North Carolina native, with over forty years of teaching experience in fitness and dance. Prior to opening The View, Lynette was fortunate to have the opportunity to teach fitness and dance in several prestigious fitness and dance studios in NYC, including Broadway Dance Center, Broadway Dance Center for Children and Teens and Yogaworks. When the pandemic hit the NYC area so hard, Lynette moved to her second home in Morehead City and continued to teach from her home via Zoom, Vimeo  and Instagram live. After living in Morehead City for 18 months, Lynette leased a forever dream space on the waterfront in Morehead and opened The View at Sugarloaf; a lifelong dream of having her own fitness and dance studio come true.

Her resume includes teaching ballet at East Carolina University, where she also was the choreographer and coach of the ECU Dance Team for ten years and a performer for many ECU Summer Theatre Productions for over two decades. Lynette was also the Director of Dance at Arendell Parrott Academy in Kinston, NC for over 12 years, where she also choreographed many musicals. Lynette was a teacher/choreographer and professional performer for The NC Academy of Dance Arts and Dance Arts Theatre, in Greenville, NC.  And in NYC, she was a teacher for Broadway Dance Center Children & Teens, Broadway Dance Center, YogaWorks, NYC and BDC Fit, where she was a founding teacher.  Fun Fact: While living in NYC, Lynette also had the opportunity to choreograph a prom scene for Stranger Things in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lynette loves being a part of her student’s personal fitness and artistic goals, while cultivating a sense of community.  She is so proud of the growing community at The View and hope it continues to thrive!
